OUR pastors -

We're here to lovingly invite you to belong to Jesus Christ and to us. Come! Be a part of us. Belong and believe!"

Pastor Rick and Joyce started their ministries at Alliance Friends Church on July 1, 1978. They have three grown children, Katie (Luke) Hertert, Eric (Katie) Sams, and Adam. Pastor Rick’s and Joyce’s deepest desire is to help people connect with Christ Jesus and with us, His church, the loving, living Body of Christ in the world today. They desire to make loving, life-giving disciples who will make other disciples in the 2 Timothy 2:2 pattern, fulfilling Jesus’ Great Command and Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 12:30-31; John 10:10).

My goal is to show and share the Love of Christ through our various outreach ministries and to help believers draw closer to Christ.

My vision for the Connections Adult Ministry of Alliance Friends Church is to both remind and encourage people that the church is still the hope for the world. In the words of Erwin McManus, "The life of the church is inseparable from the life of the world around us." Alliance Friends needs to be so connected to each other and to the community around us that real change occurs because Alliance Friends is located here. Souls are no longer lost, people are no longer desperate and lives are truly changed because the "church" is doing what it was created to do-serve one another in the love of Jesus Christ! Jesus said in Luke 19:10, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." Luke 4:18 (NLT) "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free."

Daniel has passion for talking to students about the one who pursues them relentlessly, loves them unconditionally, and cares for them graciously, that person is Jesus. He has a passion to see students growing in their walk with Jesus and changing their community with the gospel. Daniel also believes that student ministry has to thrive through relationships. Students need relationships in their life and need people they can trust! If Daniel is not doing student ministry related things, he is probably playing basketball, watching Parks and Recreation, attending a sporting event of some kind, or eating lasagna.
    Favorite Bible Verses:

"Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them”. - Luke 15:1-2 (ESV)

Jesus said to them. “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. - John 6:35 (ESV)

Daniel Kelly was born and raised in Mount Vernon, Ohio and attended Mount Vernon High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth/Sports Ministry and Bible/Theology at Malone University where he graduated in May of 2015. Daniel gave his life to Jesus at the youth group where his friend invited him. After that, his passion for ministry and his love for people grew. The turning point for Daniel in ministry was working at a summer camp called Beulah Beach. He was a Day Camp counselor, a Resident Camp counselor, and a Day Camp Assistant Director. Over the three summers at Beulah Beach, Daniel realized that he was called to be impacting the next generation. Other than working at Beulah Beach, Daniel’s ministry experience would consist of being a Resident Assistant at Malone, interning for two years with Whipple Heights C&MA Church, interning with Fellowship of Christian Athletes for a semester, interning with Trinity Friends Church for a summer, and being the Youth Pastor at Trinity Friends Church for a period of time. Through the internships and working as youth pastor, Daniel has learned to grow and develop young leaders, grow a youth ministry with Jesus as the focus, and develop students through discipleship. Daniel loves being able to say that some of his main responsibilities are going to sporting events, playing dodgeball (with toilet paper rolls), eating pizza (often), listening to a variety of different music, and playing basketball. Daniel married the love of his life, Rose Marie Scott, on July 2, 2016!
